If you had a chance to learn a skill from Pablo Picasso, Johann Sebastian Bach, Steve Jobs, Albert Einstein, J.K Rowling or David Beckham would you take the opportunity or pass it by? I am in no way as famous as any of them, but the brand of Color Switch comes close. I have traveled the world and in each country I have visited I have displayed the Color Switch design. In every country I am asked where I got the shirt or hat and when the gamer hears that I created Color Switch a gigantic smile always appears. An excitement springs out of them that passes to their friends or family as they describe the game. Players don’t always know the designer, but they do know the design which is why this course is so powerful. I am offering a look inside my mind and you won’t find that anywhere else. I have proven verifiable results of my success (Google “Color Switch Creator”), and I would like to get you on the fast track to designing your breakthrough so that you can experience the public reception that I have gotten every time a player discovers my secret identity.
I started out reading blogs, participating in forums, watching YouTube videos for tips/tricks and listening to various people that claimed to be gurus. The free route will only take you so far and will require a significant time investment. I eventually started paying for resources when I couldn’t find the answers I needed. I have already made the mistakes, taken the wrong paths and spent the money to find the answers that you are looking for. I am offering you the direct path to those answers to save you time and money. When I started making games there was nothing like GDP. I created the program for all levels of experience. I wanted to develop a program that anyone could afford and that would provide realistic results.
I do not provide one on one mentoring at this time.
GDP will help you develop the necessary foundation for your success. You can go through the program from start to finish and begin creating games in BuildBox on day one if you are that motivated. With that said there is no program that is complete. There will always be industry changes, questions or new technology that will come out as time passes. I will address those items as they are released so that GDP is up to date.
Traditional/Trade schools only allow access to the instructor and course for a semester. At GDP you have lifetime access to everything including all updates as they are released if you paid the $197. If you are on the monthly plan you have access for each month that you pay the subscription fee.
BuildBox is by far the best engine for those starting out. I paid over $3,000 when I first found it and today it is FREE. If you have no coding experience, there is nothing simpler to use. I made Color Switch in a single day and spent a week making levels once I had the core game completed. I used an existing template available on BuildBox and made two simple changes that would become Color Switch.
As the saying goes, every journey begins with a single step. The only thing that’s required of you to be a game designer is to say it out loud, that you're a game designer and then start making games. That was a gift from Jesse Schell’s book, “The Art of Game Design”. Once I stated that out loud my journey was set on the right path.
If you are in high school, why would you wait to start the process when you get to college? If you are out of college, you don’t want to go back for another degree that will take longer since you are most likely paying off student loans and need to work a full-time job.
Colleges teach you to become an employee. Game Designer Pro teaches you how to become an entrepreneur. One of those results is you obtaining an hourly wage or salary for your work/time and the other results in you keeping 100% of the income generated from your work/time.
The United States Bureau of Labor statistics put out a document called, Careers in video game development. The document states, “There are no educational requirements for video game designers…”. The Princeton Review has a list of the Top 50 Game Design schools in the United States. The average total cost of the top ten schools on that list is $200,000 for a four-year degree. That does not include room and board, or all the other expenses related to attending a university. Two of those years will be focused on general education requirements. You will be paying half of the tuition to take English, Math, Science and other classes that you attended from 1st Grade to High School. You can go through a university if you prefer but that is a large debt to obtain a piece of paper.
There are never any guarantees. All that I can show you are the steps that I took in order to obtain success. I am making a living designing games and many others are as well. I spent two years making 40 games that went nowhere. I had a regular job to support myself during that time. Your dedication to the process will ultimately determine how far you can go. I will be your guide for as long as you want to walk the path with me.
I used free software called Inkscape. There was no coding, only limited imagination and a bit of time to use the software and add the shapes to the game.
To this day I have never written a single line of code. I started using BuildBox myself to create the original game released on the app stores in December 2015. Since then, I have been the creative director on my games. My game generated the passive income needed to hire a team of programmers to implement my directions into coding language. I focus on the most important aspect only, game design.
I learned through trial and error, I utilized the forum on BuildBox and the tutorial videos. When I got stuck, I would contact the support team. Using the software was not difficult. It was coming up with the game changing idea that took the most time. Once I had that I was able to create Color Switch in a single day.
I have been interviewed multiple times around the world and am always happy to share my story with others. My goal in each interview is to provide other aspiring game designers the insight they need to become successful. Please contact [email protected] and we’ll get back to you in 24-48 hrs.
My program is for beginners, amateurs and professionals that might be struggling to develop the right game designs. If you have a spark of interest in games this program is for you. If you have ever shared a game idea with someone else but stopped there, this program is for you. If you ever thought you’d like to make a game but thought you had to be a coding expert, this program is for you. Even if you are a professional in the industry, this program is for you. Being a lifelong learner allows you to consistently grow and improve your skill set.
The course will start when you are ready to join. It can end when you make your 1st game, 100th game or never. It lasts for as long as you want to use the lessons and implement them in your journey.
I have a 7-day money-back guarantee for lifetime memberships only. If you are unsatisfied at any time during the first 7 days, let us know and you will get a full refund.
If you purchased the monthly access option, there is no refund offered. If you are unhappy, please stop the recurring payment and if you have any issues email us at [email protected] so that we can stop the payments.
The course focus is on game design which can be applied to any gaming platform. One of the fastest growing industries is mobile games. The gaming industry far surpasses the film industry in yearly revenue and there will continue to be significant growth over the next decade. Anyone that has a smartphone regardless of age is a potential customer for your game. Computer and console gamers pale in comparison to mobile phones. I will be applying the training towards the creation of hyper casual games, the simplest and fastest way to develop and publish a game but you can apply them to any genre.
Since the focus of the course is on game design the answer is yes. If you are using other software, you would be able to utilize the first nine modules and apply them with your current engine. The most important aspect of gaming is designing a game that appeals to the player. The player doesn’t know the engine or coding language that was used. They play based on the visuals of your game design.
You will not learn any coding in this course, it is not needed for game design with BuildBox. Coding is a specialized skill that a fraction of the globe even understands. Designing and using your imagination is something that most of the world currently understands but might have forgotten. You will relearn how to tap into your imagination in ways that you have not done since you were a child.
I have done my best to ensure that there is nothing additional needed once you enroll in my course. The game engine is free to use, I have included templates for you to start with, the art packs and music are also included. There are also additional items that are in development that will be made available to you as part of your membership. Once you come up with your breakthrough design there could be a cost to get those specific items designed but starting off, all it takes is the cost to join GDP.
